The color
Hard Maple Saddle is a medium wood stain with a satin sheen. The tone sits between honey and chestnut, with an amber undertone. Maple's tight grain keeps the color even, so the surface reads calm.
In north light, common in garden-level brownstone kitchens, it settles into a quieter, slightly cooler brown. South light draws out the amber and adds caramel warmth. Under warm LEDs it deepens toward russet.
What to pair it with
Honed white marble or a soft white quartz lets the wood carry the room. Soapstone goes darker and more graphic.
Unlacquered brass echoes the amber undertone. Blackened steel gives a sharper contrast. For floors, pale white oak keeps the room light, while slate or a deep-stained plank grounds it.
Where it fits
It suits prewar co-ops and brownstones, where a medium wood adds warmth to plaster and trim. It also works in Long Island colonials and Cape-style houses with sunlit, open kitchens.
It comes on TKG Inset doors including Diamond Lite, Riverside, Beekman, Clinton, Shelter Island and Henry Street. Compare profiles in door styles.
Care and durability
Satin hides fingerprints better than gloss. Wipe with a soft damp cloth, then dry. Use mild soap, and skip abrasive pads and harsh sprays.
Dry spills near the sink and dishwasher promptly. As a natural wood stain, it varies slightly from door to door and shifts gradually with light. See more at finishes or request a sample.
