The color

Hard Maple Bourbon is a medium wood stain with an amber-brown core. The grain stays visible, and the satin sheen catches light without glare.

In north light the brown leads and the amber settles back, so the wood reads calm and slightly cool. South light pulls it toward honey and caramel. Under warm LEDs it deepens and glows.

What to pair it with

Choose counters with a clean or cool base: honed white quartzite with gray veining, or a cream limestone. Honed black stone gives a stronger contrast.

Unlacquered brass and aged bronze deepen the warmth. Satin nickel keeps it crisp.

For floors, pale white oak or dark slate tile both work. Avoid orange-leaning floors, which compete with the stain.

Where it belongs

It suits prewar co-ops, Brooklyn brownstones and Long Island colonials, where wood should look settled. Irving, Astor and Riverside, all raised-panel, fit those rooms naturally. Mercer Wide, a slab door, keeps it modern in a loft. Half Arch Seven adds a mullion, and Union brings applied molding. See the full range in TKG Inset and door styles.

Care and durability

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners. Wipe up standing water near the sink and dishwasher.

Stained wood varies from board to board, and that variation is part of its character. Compare it in person among our finishes, or contact us for a sample.
