Color and light
True Walnut is a satin veneer in the medium wood family. It sits between pale and dark, which lets it respond to the room around it.
In north light it cools and deepens, and the grain recedes into a calm brown. In south light it opens up toward amber, and the figure becomes easier to read. Under warm LEDs it turns richer and a little darker, with the satin sheen softening the glow.
What to pair it with
Keep counters quiet. Honed bone-white quartz, pale limestone, or soapstone all let the wood lead.
For metals, unlacquered brass will warm it further. Blackened steel or satin nickel will sharpen it. Choose one and repeat it.
On floors, a pale matte oak or large-format honed stone works well. Avoid a second mid-tone wood underfoot, which flattens both.
Where it suits
Pre-war co-op kitchens and brownstone parlor floors benefit from its warmth, especially where light is limited. On Long Island, it settles well into open-plan renovations that need a wood anchor beside painted millwork. It is offered on Lafayette Veneer, a slab door in the TKG Inset collection. Care and durability
Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry the surface right away. Use mild soap only, and skip abrasive pads and harsh sprays.
Keep standing water away from the sink and dishwasher edges, and avoid direct heat from appliances. Like any real wood, the tone will mellow gradually in strong sun. Compare it with our other finishes or contact us for a sample.
