The color
Cherry Auburn is a satin stain on cherry, in the medium wood family. The base is red-brown with a copper undertone, and the grain stays visible through the color.
In north light, the red settles back and the wood reads as a calm, even brown. In south light, the copper comes forward and the doors take on a glow, especially in the afternoon. Under warm LEDs at 2700K, expect the red to deepen. At 3000K it stays balanced.
What to pair it with
Honed Carrara, soapstone, or a pale quartzite will give the warmth some quiet contrast. Avoid high-polish dark stone, which competes with the wood.
Unlacquered brass and aged bronze suit the copper undertone. Brushed nickel works if you want a cooler counterpoint.
For floors, wide-plank white oak in a matte natural finish keeps the room light. Honed slate-gray tile gives a firmer contrast.
Where it works
Prewar co-ops and brownstones are a natural fit, as are Long Island colonials and Tudors. The raised-panel Astor and Carroll doors suit those rooms. For lofts and newer renovations, the slab Crosby and Vanderbilt show the grain plainly. Union and Gramercy bring applied molding for in-between spaces.

Care and durability
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Use mild soap only, and skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners. Keep standing water off door bottoms near the sink and dishwasher.
Satin hides fingerprints better than gloss. Cherry deepens gradually with light, and every door varies a little in grain. See more at finishes, or contact us to request a sample.
