The color in your light
Walnut Natural is a satin stain on Walnut, sitting between chocolate and espresso. The grain stays visible, and the undertone leans red-brown.
In north light, common in street-facing Manhattan apartments, it reads cooler and deeper, close to charcoal-brown. In south light it opens up and the amber in the grain comes forward. Under warm LEDs the red warms further. Choose 2700K for richness or 3000K for a calmer tone.
What to pair it with
Honed white marble or pale limestone gives contrast without glare. Unlacquered brass will darken toward the cabinet tone, while blackened steel makes the room more graphic.
For floors, wide-plank white oak in a matte finish keeps the dark wood from feeling heavy.
Where it belongs
Chelsea and Gramercy suit brownstones and prewar co-ops. Bond and Mercer, both slab, fit lofts and newer condos. On Long Island, Bridgehampton or Remsen Wide in shaker works well in a beach house or a farmhouse renovation. Browse every door style in the TKG Inset collection.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive and ammonia-based cleaners, and wipe splashes near the sink and dishwasher promptly.
Real wood varies, so expect grain to differ from door to door. The tone will deepen gently over the years. See more finishes or request a sample.
