The color
Dark Timber is closer to roasted walnut than to black. The grain is present but restrained, more texture than pattern.
In north light, the usual condition in a brownstone rear kitchen, it cools and deepens toward espresso with a trace of charcoal. In south light, in Miami or a south-facing Long Island room, it opens into a clear brown and the grain becomes easier to read. Under warm LEDs around 2700K it leans toward chocolate. At 3000K it holds closer to its true tone. The matte surface absorbs light, so glare is rarely a problem.
What to pair it with
Choose counters that give it contrast: honed white quartzite, pale limestone, or a light oak butcher block. Brushed brass and satin nickel both suit it. Blackened steel tends to vanish against it.
For floors, wide-plank white oak in a natural finish works well, as does pale terrazzo. Avoid a dark floor in a similar brown, which flattens the room.
Where it suits
It works in prewar galley kitchens, where a dark run of cabinetry gives a narrow room a strong edge. It also fits Long Island open plans and Miami condominiums. Wooster Slab suits condos, Wooster Slim suits prewar apartments, and Wooster Shaker suits family houses. All three are part of TKG Inset. Compare profiles under door styles.
Care and durability
Laminate is a practical surface. Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap, then dry. Skip abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which can dull a matte sheen. Keep standing water off door edges, and use a heat shield beside the range.
