The color in real light
Jet Oak is a dark wood veneer with a satin sheen. At first glance it reads almost black. Then the oak grain surfaces, a little at a time, as light moves across the door.
In north light it stays cool and deep, and the grain recedes. South light draws out brown in the grain and shows the satin surface more clearly. Under warm LEDs the whole tone softens toward espresso, so choose your bulbs with the finish in mind.
What to pair it with
Counters: honed white marble, pale quartzite, or a warm limestone. Each gives the dark doors a calm edge to sit against.
Metals: unlacquered brass warms the finish, while brushed stainless keeps it cool and architectural.
Floors: natural wide-plank white oak, or a pale terrazzo. If the floor is dark, add contrast in the counters and backsplash.
Where it belongs
Jet Oak suits prewar apartments that need a grounded, quiet kitchen, and brownstone parlor floors with strong millwork. It also works in Long Island homes with open plans, where a dark run of cabinetry can anchor a large room.
It is offered in TKG Inset on the Lafayette Veneer slab door. Compare profiles under door styles.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Use a pH-neutral cleaner, and avoid abrasives. As with any veneer, keep standing water away from edges and keep steam from venting onto the doors.
Satin hides fingerprints better than gloss, though dark surfaces show dust. Browse the full range of finishes or contact us for a sample.
