The color
Rift Cut White Oak Wheat is a natural-wood stain with a satin sheen. The rift cut gives tight, linear grain without the cathedral swirl, so the surface reads calm.
In north light, wheat pulls cooler and quieter, close to dry linen. In south light it warms toward straw. Under warm LEDs it deepens to soft honey, and 3000K bulbs keep it more neutral.
What to pair it with
Honed counters let the grain lead. Try Carrara-type marble, pale limestone, or soapstone for contrast. Brushed brass warms the wood, while blackened steel or satin nickel sharpens it.
For floors, choose terrazzo, pale stone tile, or a darker-stained oak. Avoid a floor in the same wheat tone.
The straight grain suits Mercer Wide in slab and Remsen in shaker. Browse the full range under door styles.
Where it suits
It works well in prewar co-ops and brownstone floors where a north-facing galley needs warmth without darkness. In Long Island kitchens with large south-facing glass, the grain keeps the room from feeling bright and flat.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Use mild soap, and skip abrasive pads and ammonia cleaners. Wipe up water near the sink and dishwasher promptly.
This is a stain, so the wood shows through. Expect natural grain variation from door to door and a slow, gentle tone shift with light. It belongs to the TKG Inset collection. See more in finishes, or contact us for a sample.
