Color and light
Vertical Grain Fir is a honey-blond veneer with a straight, narrow grain and a warm wheat undertone. The satin sheen keeps it soft rather than glossy.
In north light, common in Manhattan apartments facing courtyards, it cools to pale straw. In south light, as in many Miami and Long Island kitchens, it deepens to honey. Under warm LEDs around 2700K it moves toward amber. At 3000K it stays closer to its daylight tone.
What to pair it with
Let the wood carry the warmth and keep the counters quiet: honed white marble, soapstone, or a matte quartzite in soft gray. Unlacquered brass will age toward the cabinetry, while blackened steel gives it an edge.
For floors, wide-plank oak in a pale matte finish keeps the room light. Dark slate or walnut adds contrast.
Rooms and housing
This is one of our Exotic finishes. It suits prewar apartments and brownstones that need warmth without weight, and Long Island ranches and Capes that want a lighter, calmer plan.
It is available on most door styles in TKG Inset, so the look can stay simple or become more detailed. Browse door styles or the full range of finishes.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive pads and harsh sprays, and wipe up standing water near the sink and dishwasher.
As a veneer, it keeps a consistent, even grain. Like any natural wood, it warms slightly with sun exposure over time. For samples, contact us.
