The color
This satin stain keeps maple recognizably maple. The tone is a warm honey-amber with a golden undertone, and the fine grain stays visible.
In north light it cools slightly and reads as pale butterscotch. In south light it moves toward gold and the grain sharpens. Under warm LEDs it deepens toward amber, so choose 2700K if you want that glow and 3000K if you want it truer to the swatch.
What to pair it with
Honed white marble or a gray-veined quartzite keeps the wood from feeling heavy. Soapstone and deep green stone make it feel richer.
Unlacquered brass sits close to the wood and warms with age. Blackened steel or satin nickel adds contrast.
Wide-plank white oak in a matte, pale finish is the easiest floor match. Avoid orange-toned boards. For door styles, Perry and Mercer slabs keep it quiet, while Cold Spring's bead brings it toward traditional. Browse the full range under door styles.
Where it suits
Prewar co-op kitchens with a single north window gain warmth without losing brightness. Brownstone garden levels benefit in the same way.
On Long Island, it suits colonials and split-levels with south-facing rear additions, where the wood can turn golden in the afternoon. It is part of TKG Inset.
Care and durability
Because this is a stain, you are living with real wood. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive cleaners and steam.
Keep water from pooling near the sink and dishwasher. Expect gentle variation from board to board, and a slow warming with light exposure. Compare it with other finishes or request a sample.
