Color and light

Rift Cut White Oak Storm is a dark wood stain, a smoky brown with a grey-green undertone. The stain is translucent, so the straight, tight grain of the oak stays visible.

In north light it cools toward charcoal and the grain softens. In south light it warms to espresso with a faint olive edge. Under warm LEDs the brown deepens, and the satin sheen leaves a low glow along door edges.

What to pair it with

Choose honed stone over polished. Carrara, limestone or a soft white quartz keeps the contrast calm, while soapstone makes a near-tonal room.

Unlacquered brass warms the grey undertone. Blackened steel or satin nickel keeps it cool. Floors work best lighter: pale oak plank, honed limestone or warm terrazzo.

Where it belongs

In prewar apartments, Gramercy Bevel or Columbus doors give the dark tone architectural weight. In brownstones, Park Slope or Astor raised-panel doors and beaded Cold Spring suit the proportions.

On Long Island, Mercer Wide slab doors turn it into a quiet, modern backdrop for open plans. Compare profiles in door styles or see the full TKG Inset collection.

Care and durability

Wipe with a soft damp cloth, dry right away, and use mild soap when needed. Skip abrasive cleaners. Keep standing water away from sink and dishwasher edges.

Dark surfaces show dust, so a weekly wipe keeps the grain clear. Grain varies from door to door, as it should in real wood. See samples under finishes or contact us.
