The color
Cherry Saddle is a satin stain on cherry, in the medium wood family. The tone is a red-brown with amber underneath, and the grain stays open and visible across each door.
In north light, the red settles back and the brown leads. The color reads calm and a little deeper. South light pulls out the amber, so the same door looks warmer by afternoon.
Under warm LEDs, around 2700K, the finish leans toward copper. For a quieter read, specify 3000K.
What to pair it with
Honed Carrara, soapstone, and cream-toned quartz let the wood carry the warmth. Avoid high-gloss black stone, which flattens the grain.
Unlacquered brass and aged bronze deepen the red notes. Brushed nickel keeps things cooler.
Wide-plank white oak in a natural finish works underfoot, as does honed slate. Keep the floor a step lighter or cooler than the cabinets so the two don't blur.
Where it suits
Prewar co-ops and Brooklyn brownstones are a natural fit, especially with Henry Street's beaded doors or Montague's applied molding. On Long Island, Riverside's raised panel suits North Shore colonials and Tudors.
In condos and lofts, the slab doors (Vanderbilt, Perry Wide, Bond) keep the lines plain and let the grain lead. Browse the TKG Inset collection or compare door styles.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Mild soap is enough. Skip abrasive pads, ammonia, and steam.
This is a wood finish, so don't let water stand near the sink or dishwasher. Cherry also deepens gradually with light, and the tone will richen over the first year. Compare it in person through finishes or contact us.
