The color

Hard Maple Chestnut is a medium wood stain with a warm brown body and a soft amber undertone. The satin sheen keeps reflections low, so the grain reads as texture, not shine.

In north light, it settles into a calm, slightly cooler chestnut. In south light, the amber comes forward and the maple grain glows at the edges. Under warm LEDs, the brown deepens and feels closer to cognac.

What to pair it with

Let the wood lead. Honed white quartzite or a pale gray stone keeps the palette quiet, and plaster-white walls let the amber glow.

Unlacquered brass and aged bronze hardware echo the undertone. Blackened steel adds contrast without competing.

For floors, choose wide-plank white oak in a natural finish, or a deeper walnut-toned floor for a tonal room. Avoid orange-leaning floors, which crowd the chestnut.

Where it works

This finish suits prewar apartments, Brooklyn brownstones, and Long Island colonials. Clinton and Park Slope are natural fits there. Gramercy adds applied molding for a more formal kitchen, and Arch Four brings mullion detail to the uppers.

It is offered across TKG Inset. See every profile in door styles.

Care and durability

A stain finish lets natural grain show, so expect gentle variation from door to door. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, and wipe water near the sink and dishwasher promptly.
