The Color
Silver is a satin gray with a cool, neutral lean. In north light it stays composed and slightly steely. In south light it lifts and clears, reading as a lighter, cleaner gray.
Under warm LEDs it softens without going beige. The coverage is opaque, so the maple underneath never shows through.
What to Pair It With
Honed white marble with soft gray veining keeps the palette quiet. Soapstone or a dark quartzite makes it more graphic.
Unlacquered brass warms the gray. Brushed nickel and blackened bronze keep it cool and tailored.
For floors, natural white oak is the easy match. Limestone tile or a darker stained plank also work.
Where It Suits
It fits a prewar co-op, a brownstone floor-through or a Long Island colonial. Beaded Henry Street and raised-panel Astor suit those rooms. The slab doors, Vanderbilt, Mott, Bleecker and Perry, suit lofts, condos and newer builds. Browse them all under door styles or in the TKG Inset collection.
Care and Durability
Painted satin is forgiving day to day. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents.
Dry out spills near the sink and dishwasher promptly. Maple moves with the seasons, so a hairline at a painted joint can appear in deep winter heat. Touch-ups are simple.
