The color in your light
Carbon Light is a mid-light gray with a graphite undertone, finished in satin. It sits between dove and charcoal: quiet, but not flat.
In north light it runs cooler and edges toward slate. In south light it opens up and reads as a clean neutral gray. Under warm LEDs, around 2700K to 3000K, the cool note softens and the gray leans toward stone.
What to pair it with
Honed Carrara or a white quartzite keeps the room crisp. Soapstone makes it tonal and moody. Brushed or unlacquered brass warms the gray, while polished nickel sharpens it. Blackened steel hardware adds weight.
For floors, choose wide-plank white oak, honed limestone, or a pale terrazzo.
Where it works
It suits prewar Manhattan apartments that get limited daylight, brownstone kitchens with a single window wall, and open-plan Long Island colonials and ranches.
On Lispenard Slab it reads modern and minimal. On Lispenard Frame it gives a shaker door a more tailored look. Compare profiles in door styles, or see the full range in TKG Inset.
Care and durability
Satin paint hides fingerprints better than gloss. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners.
Wipe up water near the sink and dishwasher promptly, and keep steam from vents and kettles off the door faces. To see a sample in your own light, contact us or browse finishes.
