The color

Rift Cut White Oak Ash is a light wood stain with a gray-leaning undertone. Rift sawing keeps the grain straight and linear, without cathedral arches, and the translucent stain leaves every line visible under a satin sheen.

In north light, the ash comes forward and the wood reads cool and calm. In south light, it warms toward pale sand. Under warm LEDs at 2700K, expect a soft honey cast. At 3000K it stays close to neutral.

What to pair it with

Honed Carrara or a matte soapstone counter lets the grain lead. For metals, unlacquered brass will warm it, while blackened steel sharpens it. Floors should be a different tone: deeper plank oak, limestone, or a pale terrazzo.

Where it works

It suits prewar apartments with courtyard exposures, Brooklyn brownstones, and Long Island houses with a lot of glass. It is offered on Shelter Island, Prospect, Bleecker, Remsen, Beekman and Astor doors. Browse the TKG Inset collection and door styles, or see more finishes.

Care and durability

A satin stain protects real wood without hiding it. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Avoid abrasive pads and standing water near the sink and dishwasher.

Wood moves with seasonal humidity, and slight variation in grain and tone from door to door is part of the material. To see a sample in your own light, contact us.
