Color and light
Midtown Oak is a true medium wood: not blond, not dark. The satin sheen keeps the grain visible without throwing glare.
In north light, the tone settles into a cooler, quieter brown, and the grain reads in fine detail. South light draws out the honey in the veneer and warms the whole run of cabinetry. Under warm LEDs, it deepens toward amber. Choose 2700K bulbs for that glow, or 3000K to keep it more restrained.
What to pair it with
Honed white quartzite or a soft gray-veined marble lets the wood lead. Brushed brass suits the warmth, and blackened steel gives a sharper contrast.
For floors, try pale, matte wide-plank oak, or a cool gray terrazzo. Avoid red-toned floors, which compete with the undertone.
Where it fits
In a prewar apartment or brownstone, flat doors in a mid-tone wood add warmth without crowding the room. On Long Island, it suits renovated colonials and open-plan ranches, where it can bridge the kitchen and living areas.
It is available on the Lafayette Veneer slab door in TKG Inset. Compare door styles and finishes before you decide.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Keep standing water away from the sink and dishwasher edges, and avoid abrasive cleaners. Satin hides fingerprints better than gloss.
Veneer varies from door to door, and that variation is part of the appeal. Contact us to see samples.
