The color
This is a dark wood stain on Walnut. The grain stays readable, so the surface looks like wood rather than a painted approximation of it. The satin sheen keeps reflections soft.
In north light, the tone cools and settles toward espresso, and the grain recedes. In south light, the brown opens up and a warmer undertone appears, with the figure more visible. Under warm LEDs it turns richer and rounder, closer to dark chocolate.
What to pair it with
Honed white marble or a pale quartzite keeps the contrast clean. Brushed or unlacquered brass suits it, as does blackened steel for a leaner look. For floors, wide-plank white oak in a light natural finish stops the room from going heavy.
Where it works
Slab doors like Gowanus and Varick suit lofts and newer condos. Sutton and Park Slope fit prewar apartments and brownstones. Clinton Wide and Bridgehampton work in Long Island family kitchens. Browse the full TKG Inset collection or compare door styles.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft damp cloth, then dry. Use mild soap only, and skip abrasive pads and harsh sprays. Dry splashes near the sink and range promptly. Satin hides fingerprints better than gloss does.
Because the grain is natural, no two doors match exactly. See Walnut Storm beside our other finishes, or contact us for samples.
