The color

Alder Natural is a stain on Alder, finished in satin. It keeps the wood's own character: honey-tan, a touch of amber underneath, and fine grain that stays quiet.

In north light it cools to a calm beige-tan. In south light it warms toward honey and the grain lifts. Under warm LEDs the amber deepens and the room glows. At a more neutral color temperature it settles back.

What to pair it with

Honed white marble or a warm quartzite keeps counters soft against the wood. Soapstone adds depth. Unlacquered brass and aged bronze follow the warmth, while blackened steel sharpens it.

For floors, choose pale, matte white oak in a wide plank, or limestone-toned tile. Skip floors with a strong red-orange cast, which compete with the stain.

Rooms and housing

This finish suits prewar apartments, brownstone kitchens, and Long Island colonials and capes, where natural wood echoes original trim.

Choose Perry (slab) for a lean, modern room. Clinton or Remsen Wide (shaker) suit family kitchens. Chelsea (beaded), Carroll (raised-panel), and Union (applied-molding) lean traditional. See the full door styles and the TKG Inset collection.

Care and durability

Wipe spills promptly with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Keep standing water away from the sink and dishwasher edges.

Because the wood shows, grain varies from door to door, and the tone will shift gently with light over time. Compare finishes or contact us to see a sample.
