The color
Cherry Wheat is a satin stain on cherry, in the natural wood family. It is light and warm, and the grain carries the surface: fine, even figure under a soft golden cast.
In north light it reads as cool, pale straw. In south light it warms toward butter and light caramel. Under warm LEDs it moves a step deeper and leans amber, so specify 2700K to 3000K if you want it to stay mellow.
What to pair it with
For counters, try honed white quartzite or a softly veined marble. A matte off-white surface also works. Unlacquered brass, aged bronze and blackened steel suit the hardware.
On the floor, white oak in a natural or bleached finish keeps the palette calm. A grey limestone-look tile adds contrast. Avoid orange-toned floors, which compete with the stain.
It is available on doors from Fifth Avenue (raised-panel) to Perry (slab) and Remsen Wide (shaker). Browse door styles or the TKG Inset collection.
Where it suits
It warms north-facing kitchens in prewar apartments and brownstones, where light is cool and often limited. On Long Island, it holds up in the brighter, south-facing kitchens of colonials and renovated ranches without turning yellow.
Care and durability
Satin stain finishes are simple to look after. Wipe with a soft damp cloth, dry right away, and use mild soap when needed. Skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, and wipe splashes near the sink and range promptly. Questions about samples? Contact us.
