How the color reads

Ice Walnut is a light wood that keeps its grain and loses the weight of traditional walnut. The tone sits closer to greige than to honey.

In north light it cools, and the grain looks fine and slightly silvery. In south light it warms toward sand, and the satin sheen gives a soft glow rather than a glare. Under warm LEDs at 2700K the undertone turns golden. At 3000K it stays nearer to neutral.

What to pair it with

Honed white quartzite keeps the palette calm. Soapstone gives a darker counterpoint.

For metals, brushed stainless and satin nickel hold the cooler side. Blackened steel adds contrast, and unlacquered brass brings warmth.

On the floor, matte white oak, honed limestone and pale terrazzo all work. Avoid red-toned floors, which fight the undertone.

Where it suits

This finish helps prewar apartment and co-op kitchens that need brightness without going white. It also suits north-facing brownstone galleys and open-plan Long Island renovations where wood should read as calm, not dominant.

It is offered on the Lafayette Veneer slab door in TKG Inset. Compare profiles under door styles.

Care and durability

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Use mild soap when needed, and skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners.

As with any veneer, keep standing water away from the sink and dishwasher edges. The satin sheen hides fingerprints better than gloss.
