The color

Plaster is an off-white with a soft, warm undertone, painted in satin over Paint Grade Maple. It reads nearer to cut stone than to bright white, and the sheen gives panels and edges a quiet definition.

In north light it cools into a gentle grey-cream. In south light it warms and turns creamy without going yellow. Under warm LEDs at 2700K to 3000K it takes on a buttery glow, and at 3500K it stays cleaner and more neutral.

What to pair it with

Honed limestone, soapstone and veined quartzite all suit it. Polished white slabs can look stark against it.

For metals, unlacquered brass and aged bronze deepen the warmth. Blackened steel sharpens it, and polished nickel keeps it crisp.

On the floor, choose wide-plank white oak in a natural finish, herringbone in a mid-tone wood, or honed slate tile.

Where it works

It does well in Brooklyn brownstones and prewar apartments, where light is limited and the room needs calm. On Long Island it suits colonials and split-levels that want a bright, settled kitchen.

Park Slope (raised-panel) and Montague (applied-molding) lean traditional. Bond, Varick and Gowanus (slab) read cleaner and more modern. Browse the full TKG Inset collection or compare door styles.

Care and durability

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and ammonia-based cleaners. Wipe splashes promptly near the sink and range.

Paint is a living finish. Edges and handles that get daily use may show wear over the years, and touch-ups are straightforward. See more finishes or contact us for a sample.
