The color
Dune is a satin off-white on Paint Grade Maple, part of the TKG Inset collection. It sits between cream and stone: warm enough to avoid the clinical, quiet enough to stay in the background.
In north light it settles into a soft, slightly greyed white. In south light it warms toward sandy cream. Under warm LEDs it leans ivory, so keep bulbs at 2700K to 3000K and hold a sample door in the room before you decide.
What to pair it with
Honed counters suit it best: soapstone, dark granite, or a quietly veined marble. Unlacquered brass and aged bronze hardware deepen the warmth, while blackened steel adds contrast.
For floors, try natural white oak or charcoal cement tile. Skip blue-leaning quartz and bright chrome, which turn the paint yellow by comparison.
Where it works
Brownstone parlor floors and prewar co-op kitchens with limited daylight do well here, as does a north-facing galley that needs warmth. On Long Island, it suits colonial and Cape kitchens with a bright rear addition.
Choose Perry Wide for a flat-front look, Clinton Wide for shaker, or Henry Street for a beaded prewar feel. See all door styles.
Care and durability
A painted satin surface hides fingerprints better than gloss. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and ammonia cleaners.
Painted maple moves slightly with seasonal humidity, and a hairline at a joint in winter is normal. Browse more finishes or contact us for a sample door.
