The color

Pearl is a satin off-white with a soft, warm undertone. Think of the inside of a shell rather than a gallery wall.

In north light it stays calm and slightly cool, a creamy gray-white that never turns stark. In south light it warms and brightens, moving toward cream by late afternoon. Under warm LEDs it softens further. The satin sheen moves light across a door without glare.

What to pair it with

Honed Carrara keeps the room airy. Soapstone adds contrast and depth. Unlacquered brass and aged bronze answer the warmth in the paint, while polished nickel keeps it crisp.

For floors, choose wide-plank white oak for a quiet room, or dark-stained oak for weight. A small hex marble mosaic suits a butler's pantry or a bar. Walnut shelving adds one more warm note.

Where it belongs

This finish suits prewar co-ops with modest windows, Brooklyn and Manhattan brownstones, and Long Island Colonials. It also works in Shelter Island and North Fork cottages.

Beaded doors such as Oyster Bay and Cold Spring suit older rooms. Slab doors such as Bleecker, Bond and Mott suit lofts and newer condos. See every profile in door styles or the TKG Inset collection.

Care and durability

A painted finish on paint grade maple is easy to live with. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents.

Hard impacts can chip paint at edges, and touch-ups are simple to make. On beaded doors, a soft brush clears dust from the profile. Compare other finishes or contact us for a sample.
