Varick in every finish
The door
Varick is a slab door set into a frame. The center panel has no raised profile, bead, or routed detail. It is a flat plane of wood or paint, held by a face frame with a narrow, even reveal around it.
In a room it reads as quiet and architectural. The reveals draw a fine grid across the wall, and the material carries the rest. It is part of the TKG Inset collection, built inset and furniture-grade, with full overlay available when you want the frame to recede.
Where it works in New York and beyond
In a pre-war apartment, a slab inset door sits calmly beside plaster walls and original casings without imitating them. In a brownstone, it gives a parlor-floor or garden-level kitchen some restraint against heavy millwork.
Lofts suit long, uninterrupted runs in painted or rift-cut finishes. New builds on Long Island and in Miami gain warmth and structure against drywall and glass. It fits modern and transitional rooms equally well.
Choosing a finish
The door comes in Paint Grade Maple, White Oak, Rift Cut White Oak, Cherry, Hard Maple, Alder, Walnut, Red Birch, and Red Oak, with 94 finishes in all.
For pale and airy, try White Oak Driftwood, Rift Cut White Oak Alpine, or Hard Maple Icicle. For warmth, White Oak Honey. Rift Cut White Oak Moss is a grounded mid-tone, and Black Coffee is the dark, dramatic end. For paint, Dune and Linen are soft off-whites. See the full range on the finishes page.
Practical notes
A flat panel shows grain without interruption. Rift cut keeps it straight and even, so view a sample before you commit.
Clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry the surface afterward. Avoid abrasive pads. On painted doors, the flat surface shows even coverage, so off-whites will shift subtly with the light.
For hardware, slim bar pulls and edge pulls keep the lines clean. Small knobs lean transitional.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare other profiles under door styles, or contact us to see a sample.
