Henry Street in every finish
The door
Henry Street is a beaded, framed door from the TKG Inset collection. A fine bead runs along the inside edge of the frame, and a flat recessed panel sits within it. The bead catches light while the panel stays quiet, so the door reads as furniture rather than casework.
You choose how it sits: flush inset, full overlay, or beaded inset. Inset is the most tailored, with each door set inside its frame. Full overlay is calmer, with tighter reveals.
Where it works
In a pre-war apartment on the Upper West Side, the bead echoes plaster moldings and deep casings already in the room. In a Brooklyn or Harlem brownstone, it suits a parlor-floor kitchen that should feel original to the house.
On Long Island, it gives Colonials, Tudors, and new builds some character. In a loft, use it for a pantry wall or a single run to add warmth against steel and concrete.
Choosing a finish
Paint shows the bead best. Plaster is a soft off-white, and Silver is a quiet gray. Both belong on Paint Grade Maple.
For stain, Hard Maple Bourbon sits in the medium range. Walnut Wheat, Hard Maple Truffle, Hard Maple Black Coffee, and Cherry Cognac go darker. White Oak Honey keeps the wood natural. On a flat panel, rift cut and quarter sawn white oak let the grain do the work. See all 95 on the finishes page.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. A soft brush clears dust from the bead. Wood moves with the seasons, so painted frames can show a fine line at a joint. Stained grain varies from door to door, which is part of the appeal.
Hardware can stay simple: knobs and latch pulls in brass, nickel, or blackened bronze all suit it.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare other profiles in door styles, browse the TKG Inset collection, or contact us to see a sample.
