The door

Ludlow 1.5 is a slab door from the TKG Inset collection. The face is flat, with no rails, no stiles and no routed detail. Because it is framed inset, each door sits flush inside its opening, and the reveals become the only lines in the room.

That is what gives it its character. It reads as modern, but the frame adds the structure of a furniture piece, so it never feels like a flat-pack box. Full overlay is available if you prefer one continuous plane.

Where it works

In a pre-war apartment with plaster walls and picture rails, a flat inset door gives a modern kitchen a measured footing. In a brownstone, it suits a garden-level or parlor-floor kitchen where the architecture is already busy and the cabinetry should stay quiet.

Lofts in Tribeca or Williamsburg suit long, uninterrupted runs, especially in full overlay. In a new build on Long Island or in Miami, the door sits comfortably in a transitional scheme next to stone and warm metals.

Choosing a finish

There are 31 finishes. Smooth paints keep the slab crisp: Pearl and Lace for light, Verdant for color, Silver for a cooler neutral.

Textured finishes give the flat face some surface. Gallery White Distressed and Chalk Crackle soften a white kitchen, while Ink Distressed and Ink Crackle bring depth in black. Browse them all in finishes, and ask for physical samples before you decide.

Practical notes

Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap, then dry. Avoid abrasive pads, which dull paint and flatten texture. MDF has no open grain, so painted finishes read evenly. Distressed and crackle finishes vary by design, so no two doors match exactly.

Slim bar pulls, edge pulls or simple knobs all work. Keep hardware minimal so the reveals stay the feature.

Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. See other door styles or contact us to start a project.
