Remsen in every finish
The door
Remsen is a shaker door with a flat recessed center panel, part of the TKG Inset collection: inset, framed, furniture-grade. The profile is plain. A simple frame surrounds a flat panel, and the only detail is the shadow where the two meet.
In a room it reads as furniture rather than millwork. You can build it three ways: flush inset, full overlay, or beaded inset. Flush inset sits level with the frame for tight, even reveals. Beaded inset adds a small shadow detail. Full overlay gives a more continuous face.
Where it works in New York
Pre-war apartments suit it well. The door stays quiet beside original casings, plaster walls and old radiators. In a brownstone, beaded inset belongs with parlor-floor proportions and period trim.
In lofts, flush inset in Rift Cut White Oak holds its own against brick and steel windows. In Long Island colonials and new builds from Manhattan to Miami, full overlay keeps the lines clean. It suits transitional and traditional interiors alike.
Choosing a finish
Ten species and 95 finishes give you real range. For paint, Plaster is a soft off-white and Harbor Mist a gray. For wood, Rift Cut White Oak Natural and Moss keep the grain straight and calm. Walnut Umber, Hard Maple Storm and Hard Maple Mocha go darker. Ink Crackle is a textured black.

Practical notes
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive cleaners.
Paint Grade Maple takes paint evenly. Oak and walnut show their grain through stain, and quarter sawn oak shows its fleck. Flat panels pair well with slim bar pulls or small knobs in unlacquered brass or blackened metal.
