Oyster Bay in every finish
The door
Oyster Bay is a beaded inset door from TKG Inset, built in paint grade maple. A small bead runs along the inside edge of the frame, where it meets a flat recessed center panel. The detail is slight. It catches light and leaves a thin line of shadow.
Available flush inset, the door sits level with the face frame, with an even reveal on every side. In a room it reads as furniture: traditional in structure, restrained in the panel.
Where it works
The bead echoes plaster moldings, which makes it a natural fit for pre-war apartments on the Upper West Side and in Brooklyn Heights. In a brownstone parlor-floor kitchen with tall ceilings, it respects the architecture without copying it.
On Long Island, it suits colonials and Tudors that want a kitchen with some age to it. In a new build in Coral Gables or Garden City, it adds the detail that drywall and recessed lighting leave out. In a loft, a dark finish against concrete and steel gives the room a softer counterpoint.
Choosing a finish
Of the 31 finishes, a few suit this door especially well. Flint, a greige, and Fog and Silver, both grays, keep the bead gentle. Sage brings in green without shouting. Ink and Iron give the profile weight, and the bead shows clearly against a dark ground.
Gallery White Distressed and Ink Crackle are textured finishes that lean toward the traditional. See the full range on the finishes page.
Practical notes
Paint grade maple has a tight grain, so painted surfaces stay smooth. Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap, and run the cloth through the bead where dust settles. Textured finishes are more forgiving of fingerprints, and their variation is part of the look.
For hardware, knobs and cup pulls suit inset doors. Keep the scale modest so the bead remains the decoration.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare other profiles in door styles, or contact us to see a sample.
