Perry in every finish
A slab door with a frame behind it
Perry is a flat center panel set within a framed, inset build, made to furniture standards. There is no raised field and no routed detail, so each door reads as one calm plane.
That is why it sits between modern and transitional. It is plain enough for a minimalist plan and still carries the craft of a framed cabinet. Choose beaded inset, full overlay or flush inset. Beaded adds a fine shadow line, full overlay is the most continuous, and flush inset is the most architectural.
Where it works in NYC and Long Island
In a pre-war apartment, the flat door stays quiet beside plaster walls, heavy casings and original windows. A painted beaded inset suits a brownstone, where the kitchen should feel like part of the house. In a loft, flush inset in walnut or white oak carries a long wall without fuss.
In new builds from Long Island to Miami, the slab face keeps an open plan from feeling busy.
Choosing a finish
Paint shows the door's geometry. Iron is a deep gray, and Atlantic is a saturated blue. Atlantic Crackle adds texture to that blue, which gives a flat door some surface interest.

Practical notes
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive cleaners.
Stained wood varies from board to board, so approve a sample for grain. Painted frames can show a fine hairline at the joints as the seasons change, which is normal in real wood.
Slab doors suit simple hardware: a bar pull, an edge pull or a plain knob. Beaded inset also handles a cup pull well.
