The door
Carnegie is a raised-panel door built inset. Each door sits flush inside a framed cabinet face instead of lying over it, leaving a fine, even reveal around the edge.
The center panel rises toward the middle, and the shadows it casts shift through the day. In a room it reads as furniture: a sideboard, a library cabinet, a piece with some history. It belongs to the TKG Inset collection and is offered in walnut.
Where it works
Pre-war apartments with plaster moldings and tall ceilings are a natural fit, because the door echoes the millwork already there. In a brownstone, it suits a parlor-floor or garden-level kitchen that should feel like part of the house.
On Long Island, it works well in colonials and Tudor-style homes. In a new build, it gives a transitional kitchen a sense of precedent. In a loft, use it sparingly, perhaps one run of tall cabinetry against brick.
Choosing a finish
All seven finishes are stains, so the walnut grain stays visible. Bourbon, Moss and Chestnut sit in the medium range. Natural, Storm, Wheat and Umber read darker.
Medium tones keep a small kitchen open and warm. Darker stains give the raised panel more depth and suit larger rooms or rooms with plenty of daylight. Compare them all on the finishes page.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry the surface right away. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaners, which can dull a stained finish.
Grain varies from door to door, which is part of the appeal. Ask for a sample before you commit to a tone. Because the finish is stain rather than paint, there is no painted option.
For hardware, unlacquered brass, blackened iron and aged nickel all sit comfortably against walnut. Choose slim bar pulls or small cup pulls to let the panel profile lead.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts from $1200/LF, cabinetry only. See other door styles or contact us to plan your kitchen.
