The door
Fire Island is a beaded inset door from the TKG Inset collection: framed, furniture-grade, and set flush within the cabinet opening. A small bead runs along the inside edge of the frame and holds a fine shadow line around the flat recessed center panel.
In a room, it reads as joinery rather than casework. Calm, ordered and a little formal, with detail that shows up at close range. Full overlay is available when you want the door to cover the frame instead.
Where it works in NYC and Long Island
Transitional and traditional rooms are its home. In a pre-war apartment or a brownstone parlor-floor kitchen, the bead echoes the picture rail, paneled doors and window casings already there.
In a Long Island center-hall colonial, it keeps the kitchen in step with the rest of the house. In a new build, it adds the detail the architecture may lack. In a loft, it gives raw brick and steel windows a more composed counterweight.
Choosing a finish
Metal is the material, so finish sets the tone. With no open grain, color lies evenly across door, frame and bead. Paler tones sharpen the shadow lines. Deeper tones soften the bead and make the door read as one graphic plane.
