A flat door with nothing to hide behind

Orchard is a slab door in solid walnut, built as framed inset cabinetry from the TKG Inset collection. The door sits flush inside the frame with an even reveal on every side. The center panel is flat, with no bead or profile, so the grain carries the design.

In a room it reads as calm and architectural. It is furniture-grade work, closer to a well-made sideboard than a run of boxes. Full overlay is available if you prefer an uninterrupted face over the inset reveal.

Where it works in New York, Long Island and Miami

Pre-war apartments often have good bones and awkward proportions. A flat walnut door adds warmth without competing with plaster moldings or casement windows. In a brownstone, it suits a garden-level kitchen that needs to feel current against original millwork upstairs.

Lofts and new-build condos, in Tribeca or Long Island City, give the door clean lines and large planes to work with. On Long Island, it gives a renovated split-level or ranch a more resolved, modern kitchen. In Miami, walnut grounds a bright, white-walled interior.

Choosing a finish

All seven finishes are stains on walnut, so the grain stays visible. Bourbon, Moss and Chestnut are medium tones. Umber, Storm, Wheat and Natural are dark. Moss brings a slight green undertone, while Storm is the more graphic choice against stone or plaster.

See the full range on the finishes page, and order samples before you decide. Walnut shifts with the light in your kitchen.

Practical notes

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Skip abrasive cleaners. Because the wood is stained rather than painted, the grain shows through and no two doors match exactly. That variation is part of the material.

Slim bar pulls, finger pulls and edge pulls keep the face clean. Blackened steel and aged brass both pair well with the darker stains.

Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Browse the TKG Inset collection, compare other door styles, or contact us to plan your kitchen.
