The door
Nolita is a flat slab door with a slab center panel. It has no rails, no stiles and no profile cut into the face. Built as framed inset cabinetry, the door sits flush inside its frame, and the reveal around it becomes the only line in the composition. Full overlay is available if you would rather the frame disappear.
In a room, it reads as quiet and architectural, closer to millwork than to a kitchen catalog. It belongs to the TKG Inset collection.
Where it works in NYC and Long Island
In a pre-war apartment, a slab door keeps the cabinetry calm against plaster walls, original casings and tall windows. In a brownstone, it gives a parlor-floor or garden-level kitchen a flat, contemporary counterpoint to the house's older detail.
Lofts suit it well. Long runs of oak slab soften concrete, steel and brick without competing with them. In a new build on Long Island or in Miami, it fits the modern and transitional interiors that call for clean planes and one honest material.
Choosing a finish
This door is offered in Lincoln Oak. With no profile to carry the design, the grain does that work, so keep the surrounding palette simple. Plain stone, a restrained backsplash and quiet walls let the oak lead.
Look at a sample in your own light before deciding. Our finishes page shows how the material sits alongside other choices in a project.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry the surface right away. Avoid soaking the door or leaving standing water at the sink.
Oak varies from door to door, so expect grain to shift across a run. That variation is the point. Because this is a grain-forward finish and not a painted one, there is no paint to chip or touch up.
Slim bar pulls, edge pulls and finger-pull details all keep the slab clean. Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts from $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare other profiles on the door styles page, or contact us to see a sample.
