Morningside in every finish
The door
Morningside is a framed inset door from the TKG Inset collection. An applied molding traces the opening, and the center panel is flat and recessed. The molding gives the face a quiet shadow line, and the flat panel keeps it from becoming ornate.
In a room it reads as furniture: a dresser, a library wall, a pantry that looks as if it was always there. Full overlay is available if you want less frame showing.
Where it works
In pre-war apartments and brownstones, the door answers existing millwork, such as paneled wainscot, deep casings and picture rail, without copying it. In a Long Island colonial or Tudor revival, it sits comfortably beside original trim.
In a loft, it warms brick, steel and concrete. In a new build, it gives a transitional kitchen the detail that plain slab doors lack, especially next to honed stone and simple tile.
Choosing a finish
The door comes in Cherry, Hard Maple, Rift Cut White Oak, Paint Grade Maple, Walnut and Red Oak, and in 81 finishes. A few to start with:
- Paint, white: Chalk, or Plaster for a softer off-white.
- Paint, gray: Dusk, Silver or Iron.
- Stain, medium wood: Cherry Bourbon.
- Stain, dark wood: Rift Cut White Oak Navy or Hard Maple Navy.
Paint shows the molding as line and shadow. Stain adds grain across the flat panel. See the full range in finishes.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry it right away. Painted doors stay smooth on Paint Grade Maple, while stained wood varies from door to door, as it should. Order from the same run so the tone stays consistent.
Hardware can be simple. Knobs and slim pulls suit the flat panel, and a cup pull works well on drawers.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare other profiles in door styles, or contact us to see a sample.
