The door itself

Madison is a slab door with a slab center panel, set inside a face frame the way furniture is built. There is no raised profile and no routed detail. The only lines are the reveals around each door.

That restraint is the point. Across the room it reads as calm and architectural. Up close it reads as carefully made. Beaded inset is available if you want a softer edge where door meets frame. It belongs to the TKG Inset collection and is built in paint grade maple.

Where it works in New York and beyond

In a pre-war apartment, the flat door sits quietly against plaster walls, original casings and old floors. In a brownstone, it keeps the kitchen from competing with parlor-floor moldings. In a loft, long runs of slab inset give big walls continuity.

New builds gain the warmth of furniture construction. Open-plan homes on Long Island and in Miami, with strong daylight, suit it equally well, whether modern or transitional.

Choosing a finish

With no profile to catch light, the finish carries the door. Dune and Chalk Crackle stay pale, one smooth and one textured. Sage, Sky and Atlantic bring color without noise, and Atlantic Crackle adds texture in blue. Iron and Ink go deep.

There are 31 in all. See them on the finishes page, or compare profiles under door styles.

Practical notes

Maple's tight grain gives painted finishes a smooth, even surface. The crackle finishes keep their texture by design. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Slim bar pulls, edge pulls or plain knobs match the door's restraint.

Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Talk to us about your layout.
