Montague in every finish
The door
Montague is an applied-molding door: molding built up around a flat, recessed center panel. The result is a clean shadow line and a calm face, without the fussiness of a raised panel.
It reads as traditional without looking like a reproduction. In a room it feels closer to a well-made piece of furniture than a catalog door. It belongs to TKG Inset, our framed, furniture-grade collection, and is available as beaded inset, flush inset or full overlay.
Where it works
The profile suits traditional and transitional rooms, which covers a great deal of New York housing.
In a pre-war apartment, it respects plaster walls and existing casings. In a brownstone, beaded inset sits comfortably beside original millwork. On Long Island, it fits colonials and Tudors without leaning country. In a loft or new build, a painted version in Fog softens brick, steel and glass.
Choosing a finish
Eight species are offered: Paint Grade Maple, White Oak, Cherry, Hard Maple, Alder, Walnut, Red Birch and Red Oak.
Paint keeps the molding crisp. Sand, Fog and Plaster are good places to start. Stain puts the grain forward: Cherry Auburn, Cherry Bourbon, Hard Maple Chestnut, Alder Natural and Walnut Wheat. Those are a few of 77 on the finishes page.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry right away. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
Paint Grade Maple takes paint evenly, so color stays consistent door to door. Stained species show their own grain, so expect natural variation.
Slim bar pulls or small knobs keep the look transitional. Cup pulls and latches push it traditional.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Contact us to see a sample, or compare all door styles.
