Columbus in every finish
The door
Columbus is an applied-molding door with a flat recessed center panel. The molding is built up around the panel, so the face has shadow and depth without ornament piled on.
It reads as furniture: composed, slightly formal, calm. Part of the TKG Inset collection, it is framed and inset, in either flush inset or beaded inset. Flush is quieter. Beaded adds a fine line at every reveal.
Where it belongs
Pre-war apartments on the Upper West Side and in Brooklyn Heights already have the plaster, the casings, the proportion. This door sits inside that language without imitating it.
In a brownstone, it suits a parlor-floor or garden-level kitchen where cabinetry has to hold its own under tall ceilings. On Long Island, it fits colonials and Tudors. In a new build, it gives a traditional plan a sense of age. In a loft, the flat panel keeps it transitional rather than period. Miami homes with traditional bones take it just as well.
Choosing a finish
Ten species are offered, across 95 finishes. Paint Grade Maple takes color cleanly: Plaster and Pearl for soft off-whites, Sand for a greige, Cobalt for a room that wants one decisive color.
For wood, Rift Cut White Oak Storm is dark and linear. Cherry Chestnut is warm and medium, and deepens with light. Hard Maple Icicle stays pale. Red Birch Natural leans slightly golden. See the full range under finishes.
Practical notes
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry right away, especially at the molding joints. Painted doors present a smooth, even surface. Stained doors show their grain, and open-grained oak reads with more texture than maple.
For hardware, keep it small. Cup pulls and slim knobs in brass or nickel suit the profile and leave the molding visible.
Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Compare door styles or contact us to see a sample.
