The door

Lafayette Veneer is a slab door made for inset cabinetry. A flat center panel sits flush within a furniture-grade frame, so the face reads as one calm plane edged by a fine, deliberate reveal. There is no bead or step to interpret, only grain, joinery and shadow line.

In a room, it looks tailored, closer to fitted joinery than to a catalogue kitchen. It suits modern and transitional spaces, and it is also available in full overlay when you want a continuous face without the reveal.

Where it works in New York and Long Island

Pre-war apartments often have good bones and plain walls. A veneer slab adds warmth without competing with the moldings. In a brownstone, it sits easily beside plaster details and original millwork, giving you a current kitchen that respects the parlor floor.

Lofts with brick and concrete need grain to soften them. New builds in Manhattan, Long Island and Miami tend to be flat, white volumes, and a wood-faced slab gives them a point of view.

Choosing a finish

There are six veneer finishes. Cream Oak, Ice Walnut and Bone Oak are the light woods, good for keeping compact kitchens open. True Walnut and Midtown Oak are medium and well balanced. Jet Oak is the dark option, suited to rooms with generous daylight. Compare them all on the finishes page.

Practical notes

Veneer is real wood, so grain varies from door to door. Because the finish shows the wood rather than covering it, the grain stays visible. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry promptly. Avoid abrasives and standing water.

On a face this quiet, hardware should stay modest. A slim bar pull or a small knob in brushed or blackened metal lets the grain lead.

Lead time is 10–14 weeks. Pricing starts at $1200/LF, cabinetry only. Explore the TKG Inset collection, see other door styles, or contact us to see a sample.
