Bond in every finish
The door
Bond is a slab door with a slab center panel, set inside the face frame so the two sit flush. There is no applied molding and no raised field. What remains is edge, reveal and material.
In a room it reads as calm and architectural, closer to built furniture than to a catalog kitchen. Full overlay is available if you would rather the frame recede. It is offered in Walnut, White Oak, Rift Cut White Oak, Cherry, Paint Grade Maple and Alder.
Where it works
In a pre-war apartment, a flat door keeps a new kitchen from competing with plaster walls and original casings. In a brownstone, inset framing respects the millwork upstairs while the kitchen stays quiet.
Lofts suit long, uninterrupted runs against brick or concrete. In new builds on Long Island and in Miami, the door adds warmth and craft to a lot of glass and white wall. It sits comfortably between modern and transitional.
Choosing a finish
Seventy-five finishes are available. For paint, Dusk is a gray, Sage a green and Atlantic a blue. For stain, Walnut Chestnut and Cherry Chestnut run medium, Rift Cut White Oak Bourbon is deeper, and White Oak Wheat and Cherry Wheat stay close to natural wood.
On a slab, grain is the only pattern, so stain finishes reward a considered species. Browse the full range on the finishes page.
Practical notes
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it right away. A flat surface has no profile to trap residue.
Grain varies by species. Rift cut oak runs straight and even, while walnut and cherry move more from door to door. Paint Grade Maple takes paint smoothly and evenly.
Slim bar pulls, edge pulls and plain knobs all suit the door. Lead time is 10–14 weeks, with pricing from $1200/LF, cabinetry only. See the rest of TKG Inset, compare door styles, or contact us.
