A muted green that shifts with the light

Sage is a grayed, earthy green with a soft yellow undertone. The satin sheen keeps the surface calm and lets door profiles show without glare.

In north light it cools toward gray-green, quiet and slightly mineral. In south light the yellow opens up and it reads closer to dried herb. Under warm LEDs it softens and leans olive. Sample it in the room, and check it at night.

What to pair it with

Honed white marble or soapstone counters suit it well, and both keep the green from feeling sweet. Unlacquered brass and aged bronze warm the undertone, while blackened steel adds contrast. Polished chrome reads cold against it.

For floors, try wide-plank white oak, limestone, or a honed stone checkerboard.

Where it works

In brownstones and prewar co-ops, pair it with Sutton or Astor, where molding and panels catch the satin sheen. Lofts and newer condos suit the slab doors: Gowanus, Vanderbilt and Bond. On Long Island, the beaded Oyster Bay profile fits Colonials and Cape-style houses.

Care and durability

A painted finish on Paint Grade Maple is smooth and easy to wipe. Use a soft damp cloth and mild soap, and dry any water left near the sink and dishwasher. Skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners.

Hard impacts can chip paint at the edges. If that happens, contact us and we will arrange a touch-up. You can also compare other finishes.
