The color
Pewter Sand is a greige that doesn't lean on either word. It has the quiet body of gray and the warmth of sand underneath.
In north light, the gray comes forward and the color reads close to stone. In south light, the sand surfaces and the door turns soft and putty-like. Under warm LEDs, around 2700K, it drifts toward cream. At 3000K it stays balanced. The satin sheen catches light gently and never glares.
What to pair it with
For counters, try honed white quartzite, soapstone, or a marble with warm veining. A dark honed granite gives stronger contrast.
Unlacquered brass and aged bronze deepen the warm side. Blackened steel sharpens it. In a north-facing room, polished nickel keeps things clean.
Underfoot, white oak in a natural or lightly fumed finish works well, as does honed limestone. Avoid red-toned floors, which fight the undertone.
Where it works
This finish suits prewar co-ops that need warmth without brightness, and brownstone garden-level kitchens with limited daylight. On Long Island, it holds up in colonials, ranch renovations, and coastal homes with strong southern exposure.
It is available on Lispenard Slab and Lispenard Frame in TKG Inset. Compare profiles in door styles.
Care and durability
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Skip abrasive pads and ammonia-based cleaners. Dry standing water near the sink and dishwasher promptly.
Satin shows fingerprints less than gloss does. See more in finishes, or contact us for a sample.
